COMPABLOC REPLACEMENT & RETROFIT
Replacement Engineering for Existing Compabloc Installations
Assess a PANSTAR welded block heat exchanger or replacement plate pack against your existing Compabloc installation. Selection starts with the operating duty and mechanical interfaces.
- Plate pack or complete unit?
- A plate-pack replacement retains selected existing casing components and requires confirmation of their condition, geometry and sealing interfaces. A complete-unit replacement allows a different configuration, but may require changes to piping, supports and maintenance access. Define which components are included before comparing proposals.
- Replacement dimensions and nozzle arrangement
- Provide the general arrangement drawing, connection schedule and site measurements. Compare overall dimensions, flange standards, nozzle orientation, centre distances, supports, foundation loads and lifting points. Allow clearance for panel removal and mechanical cleaning; matching the footprint alone does not confirm interchangeability.
- Match the actual process duty
- Review both fluids, flow rates, inlet and target outlet temperatures, heat load, existing heat-transfer area and allowable pressure drop. Include startup, turndown, fouling and any change from the original duty. A replacement selected solely by model number can miss a process or hydraulic requirement.
- Materials, temperature and pressure
- Confirm the plate alloy, panel seals and other wetted components against fluid composition and operating conditions. Assess high-temperature and high-pressure requirements against the selected design and code. The published HEXCBLOC standard range must not be substituted for the existing unit’s nameplate rating.
- Model references for assessment
- Dedicated reference pages cover CP30, CP50, CP75 and CP120, alongside the other listed CP sizes. These are enquiry starting points, not a statement of automatic compatibility. For CPX or another designation, submit the exact nameplate and drawings for individual assessment; a validated CPX replacement range is not currently published.
- Verification and retrofit engineering
- Agree the thermal calculation, general arrangement, material specifications, retained-component inspection and required testing. Document any piping or support changes and identify installation responsibilities. Confirm the shutdown schedule, lifting plan and commissioning acceptance criteria before ordering.
- An engineered alternative, clearly identified
- PANSTAR supplies the proposed equipment. Alfa Laval and Compabloc identify the existing manufacturer and product; they do not identify the origin of PANSTAR replacement equipment. No OEM affiliation or universal drop-in fit is claimed.
PANSTAR equipment is offered as an engineered alternative. Alfa Laval, Compabloc, GEA and Kelvion names identify existing equipment; no OEM origin or affiliation is claimed. Compatibility is assessed for each project.
